The Compassion of Practical Repatriation

… a role for Newstead House post The Great War

An event to coincide with the 2015 Heritage Festival

Join leading Historian David Gibson as he shares the little known but powerful story of one woman’s drive and compassion following the conflict of The Great War. It is a storythough

Unrealised of a plan by Mrs. Crampton Andrews of the Queensland Soldiers’ Educational Industrial

Institute to obtain permission of the Brisbane City Council to grant Newstead House for use as a home for returned soldier workers. It is deserving of more knowing of its story.

David will speak to the Brisbane City Council’s attitude to this approach…and why this dream was never realised.

Cost: $20 per person (Includes Morning Tea and Talk)
