Weddings
Newstead House has a long tradition of hosting wedding ceremonies and reception. In 1883, Edith Maud Harris — the eldest daughter — married George Condamine Taylor on the grounds, with festivities ‘on so princely a scale’ that temporary buildings were raised on site to accommodate 350 guests and a band, lit by ‘countless coloured lanterns’.
The Newstead House heritage precinct is one of Brisbane’s treasured riverside locations, just minutes from the CBD. Surrounded by picturesque gardens, views across Newstead park, stretching out to Brisbane River, make Newstead House a highly desirable location for wedding ceremonies, receptions and photography.
